Formulation of Dimensions of Statehood in Ayatollah Javadi Amoli's Political Theology: An Analysis Based on Skinner's Hermeneutics Method

The article focuses on the dimensions of "statehood" in political theology, which are centered on the four fundamental axes of Islam and the legitimacy of the state, Islam and democracy, Islam and secularism, and Islam and international relations. In Javadi Amoli's system of thought, the Islamic state is not merely an executive institution, but also an epistemological, moral, and civilizational structure that is formed in the context of divine lordship, human caliphate, and Quranic guidance. The mission of this state is not only to govern, but also to educate, guide, and realize human dignity. Objective grounds lead Javadi Amoli to explain the state of guardianship, while subjective grounds link the state to the caliphate of nature and civilizational guidance. Conventional norms consider legitimacy as divine, democracy as consultative, and relations as justice-oriented. Javadi Amoli, with his new acquisitions, redefines the guardianship of the jurist as an extension of the epistemic imamate, legitimacy as divine with popular acceptance, democracy acontract.” This shows that Javadi Amoli’s political discourse of statehood, focused on issues, with relative comprehensiveness and the reconstruction of norms, transforms the state into a moral and civilization-building institution.
