Understanding the concept of "Fiṭrah" has always been central to Islamic thought. However, theological interpretations have often overlooked its profound mystical dimensions. This study addresses this gap by investigating the mystical conception of Fiṭrah, grounded in the foundational principle of Islamic mysticism that the cosmos is structured upon God's Names (Asmā' Allāh). Focusing specifically on the divine name "Al-Fāṭir" (the Originator), the research underscores the necessity of reinterpreting Fiṭrah through an analysis of mystical and supplicatory texts, using a descriptive-analytical methodology.
The findings reveal that within the mystic worldview, Fiṭrah is a primordial truth with three core aspects: Firstly, it is the fundamental essence latent within the heart of the "Perfect Human" (al-Insān al-Kāmil) and the basis for the order of the macrocosm. Secondly, this essence was deposited in human spirits in the pre-existential "World of Spirits" prior to physical creation, and can be revived and brought out of latency through spiritual purification (tazkiyat al-nafs). Thirdly, this innate Fiṭrah is susceptible to corruption; mystics analyze this corrupted state in humans and its ripple effect on the world as the source of "Evil," attributing its origin to human free will—a direct consequence of possessing knowledge coupled with a physical body.
