Perceptions and dispositions are two aspects of human personality that philosophers have long studied for their interrelationship. This research explores how these aspects interact from Mulla Sadra's perspective. According to Sadra, dispositions are substantial, while perceptions are existential, and their union with the soul demonstrates that they not only influence the substantial motion of the intensifying soul but also affect each other. The findings of this study highlight a mutual influence: first, dispositions impact perceptual faculties, where the existential rank and substantial form of the soul guide the perceptual faculties and determine their capacity to focus on purely material matters or the realm of the unseen. Second, perceptual faculties influence dispositions, as repeated sensory, imaginative, illusory, and intellectual data can stabilize the soul’s state in a particular direction, forming a corresponding moral disposition. By analyzing Sadra’s perspective in comparison to his predecessors using descriptive and analytical methods, it becomes clear that the relationship between dispositions and perceptions contributes to the substantial perfection of the soul. Due to Sadra’s belief in imaginal immateriality, these influences persist with the human being after death.
